Effective date: August 21, 2026. Replaces the version of July 20, 2026. What changed: the lead form now has an optional phone field, submissions are stored on our own server as well as emailed, and the site now runs a first-party script that records which pages lead to enquiries. All three are described below.
Ontario Car Financing publishes plain-English car-loan guidance for buyers across Ontario. We are based in Brantford and write for the whole province. We are not a lender or a bank, and we do not approve or decline credit. We publish guides and calculators, and we pass pre-qualification requests to lender and dealer partners who may pay us a referral fee.
This policy explains what personal information ontariocarfinancing.ca collects, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal law covering personal information handled in the course of commercial activity in Ontario.
What we collect
When you send a pre-qualification request
Three pages on this site carry a short lead form: the payment calculator, the trade-in equity calculator, and the affordability calculator. They ask for your name, your email address and your postal code, and they offer an optional phone number. You do not have to give the phone number, but if you would rather have a call than an email it is the fastest route. The form also records which page you submitted it from, so we know what you were reading. If a form asks for a short note about your situation, whatever you type there is collected too.
Your submission does two things. It reaches us as an email, and it is written to a record in a database on the same server that runs this site. We keep the database copy so a request is never lost to a mail delivery failure. Both copies contain what you typed, the page you submitted from, the date and time, and how you first arrived at the site. The email also contains the IP address the request came from; the database record stores a one-way scrambled version of it instead, which we cannot turn back into your address. We would rather tell you that here than have you find out about it later.
When you use a calculator
The calculators run entirely inside your browser. The loan amount, interest rate, term, income, trade-in value, and every other figure you type into them stay on your own device. Those numbers are never transmitted to us, unless you separately fill in the lead form and submit it. Close the tab and they are gone.
Web server logs
Like nearly every website, this one runs on a hosting provider's servers, which keep routine access logs recording IP addresses, browser and device type, the pages requested, and timestamps. They are produced by the hosting infrastructure for security and troubleshooting, and we do not use them to build a profile of you.
Why we collect it
There are two reasons, and only two.
- To answer you. If you send a pre-qualification request, we need a way to reply and enough context to give you a useful answer instead of a generic one.
- To hand you to one matched partner, with your knowledge. We read what you sent, work out which single dealer or lender partner is the best fit for your situation, and pass your request to them. They then contact you directly, usually by phone. One partner, not a list of them. That partner may pay Ontario Car Financing a referral fee. That is how this site is funded, and it is disclosed at the bottom of every page.
We do not use your information for anything beyond those two purposes. We do not build advertising audiences, run retargeting, or add you to a mailing list you did not ask to join.
Consent, and how to withdraw it
Filling in the form and pressing submit is your consent for us to use your information for the two purposes above, including your consent for the matched partner to contact you about it.
Before that point we collect no personal information, but we are not collecting nothing: the site records anonymous events, such as which page you were on when you clicked a call button or a pre-qualification button. That is set out under Cookies and analytics below. It is not tied to a name unless and until you submit the form.
You can withdraw that consent at any time. Email us at intuitiveattire1@gmail.com and say you want your information removed, or that you no longer want to be referred to a partner. We will act on it and confirm when it is done. Withdrawing consent means we stop, so we may not be able to help with the request you sent, but there is no penalty and no argument about it.
Who we share it with
Your information may be shared with the following, and nobody else:
- One matched dealer or lender partner. This only happens for the purpose you submitted the form for, and it goes to a single partner chosen for your situation, not broadcast to several. They will contact you directly. Once your request reaches them they handle your information under their own privacy policy, and you can tell them to stop contacting you at any time.
- Service providers that carry the message. Our web hosting provider stores the site and processes the form submission, and an email delivery service relays the resulting message to our inbox. They handle it only to provide those services to us.
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers, and there is no arrangement under which anyone buys a list from us.
How long we keep it, and how it is protected
We keep what you send only as long as we need it for the purpose you sent it for. In practice that means two places: the working inbox where lead emails arrive, and the database record on our server. When a request is finished, or when you ask, we delete both.
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit between your browser and the server. Access to the inbox and to the database that receive leads is limited to the people running Ontario Car Financing.
Being straight with you: no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. We take reasonable steps and cannot promise more than that. We have not been independently audited, we hold no security certification, and this page is not going to claim one.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies at all. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking script of any kind. The site loads no fonts, scripts, or images from other companies' servers. Nothing here is shared with an advertising network, and nothing about you is sold.
What the site does run is a small script of our own, served from this domain and reporting only back to this domain. Exactly what it does:
- It remembers, for the length of your visit, how you arrived. The first page you landed on, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the web address. This is held in your browser's session storage rather than a cookie, and your browser throws it away the moment you close the tab. It cannot follow you between visits.
- It tells us when you click something that matters. Clicking a phone number, clicking a pre-qualification button, or starting to type in the lead form sends us a note that it happened, along with the page you were on and how you arrived. Not what you typed.
- It records a scrambled version of your IP address, run through a one-way function, so we can tell two different clicks apart without being able to work out who or where you are.
Why: so we can tell which guides actually lead somewhere useful, and write more of those. None of it is personal information on its own, and none of it is joined to your name unless you choose to submit the form. If you would rather it did not run, blocking JavaScript for this domain stops it completely, and the rest of the site still works, calculators included.
Your rights under PIPEDA
PIPEDA gives you real rights over the personal information an organization holds about you:
- Access. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have disclosed it to. We will tell you.
- Correction. If what we hold is wrong or incomplete, you can ask us to fix it.
- Complaint. You can challenge how we handle your information, first with us, and then with the regulator if our answer does not satisfy you.
Complaints about privacy practices in Canada are handled by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which you can reach at https://www.priv.gc.ca/. You do not need our permission to contact them and you do not have to come to us first, although we would like the chance to sort it out.
How to reach us
To ask for access, request a correction, withdraw consent, have your information deleted, or raise a concern, email intuitiveattire1@gmail.com. That is a real inbox that a person reads. Put "Privacy" in the subject line.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, this page changes with them and the effective date at the top is updated. Any revision is posted here, so this is always the current version. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page describing the old arrangement.
