Terms of Use

What this site is, what it is not, and what you can reasonably expect from it. Short, plain, and honest about where the limits are.

Effective date: July 20, 2026.

These terms cover your use of ontariocarfinancing.ca. Ontario Car Financing is a Brantford-based publisher of car-loan guidance written for buyers across Ontario. By reading the site or using its tools, you are agreeing to what follows. If any of it does not sit right with you, the honest answer is to stop using the site.

This is general information, not advice

Everything published here is general information about how car financing works in Ontario. It is not financial advice, not legal advice, not credit counselling, and not tax advice. It is not a recommendation to take any particular loan, buy any particular vehicle, or deal with any particular lender or dealer.

We do not know your file. We do not know your credit report, your income, your other obligations, or what a lender will make of them. Nothing written for a general audience can account for that, so please treat what you read here as background for your own decision, and take advice on your specific situation from someone qualified to give it.

No lender, broker, or advisor relationship is created

Reading this site, using a calculator, or sending a pre-qualification request does not make us your lender, your broker, your agent, or your advisor, and it does not create a fiduciary or professional relationship of any kind.

Ontario Car Financing is not a lender. We do not lend money, we do not hold credit applications, we do not pull your credit bureau, and we do not approve or decline anyone. Only a lender can approve credit, and only after it has seen your actual file. Anyone telling you otherwise before that point is guessing.

Rates and figures are estimates

Rates, payments, tier ranges, market averages, and worked examples on this site are illustrations. We publish rate tiers as ranges rather than single numbers precisely because the number that ends up on your contract depends on the lender, the vehicle, the term, your credit profile, and the day you sign.

Market data and statutory references are attributed to their sources and were accurate as of publication. This is a moving target: rates change, lenders change their rules, and Ontario and federal law changes. Confirm any figure that matters to you directly with the lender, and confirm any legal point with the current statute or a qualified professional, before you rely on it.

The calculators

Our calculators are teaching tools. They run in your browser using standard amortization math and the assumptions we describe on each page. They do not know your real rate, they do not include every fee, tax, or insurance cost, and their output is not a quote, an offer, or a promise of anything. A lender's numbers are the real numbers.

How we are paid

Ontario Car Financing may be paid a referral fee by lenders and dealers when you connect with them through our pre-qualification tools or links. That compensation is how the site is funded, and it is disclosed at the bottom of every page rather than buried in here.

What that means for you in practice: a partner paying us does not make their offer the right one for you, and you should shop your loan the same way you would if we were not in the picture. Our rule is that you get the truth first and the referral second, and the guidance published here is written that way on purpose. You are never charged anything by us.

No guarantee of approval or of any rate

We make no promise that you will be approved for financing, that you will be introduced to a partner, or that you will receive any particular rate, term, payment, or vehicle. We do not promise that a lender or dealer will respond, or that any offer you receive will match an example you read here.

Be careful with anyone who does make that kind of promise. Approval depends on a lender assessing your file, and no publisher, broker, or dealership can commit to it in advance.

Links to other websites

We link to regulators, statutes, data sources, lenders, and dealers. We do not control those sites, we do not operate them, and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, their products, or how they handle your information. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement, and once you leave this site their terms and privacy practices apply instead of ours.

Using the site properly

The words, guides, calculators, tables, and design on this site belong to Ontario Car Financing. You are welcome to read them, print them, and share links to them. Please do not republish substantial portions as your own, scrape the site to rebuild it elsewhere, or use it to mislead anyone.

When you send us information through a form, please make it accurate and your own. Submitting someone else's details, or figures you know are false, wastes everyone's time and can cause real problems downstream with a lender.

Limitation of liability

We put genuine effort into getting this right: sources are cited, estimates are labelled as estimates, and pages are reviewed against current Ontario and federal rules. Even so, the site is provided as is, and we cannot warrant that every page is complete, current, or error free.

To the extent the law allows, Ontario Car Financing is not liable for losses arising from your use of this site or from decisions you make based on it, including a financing decision, a vehicle purchase, or a dealing with a lender or dealer we introduced you to. Those parties are independent of us and responsible for their own conduct and contracts. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Ontario or Canadian consumer protection law that cannot be waived, and if part of this section is unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site develops. Revisions are posted on this page with a new effective date, so this page is always the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Any dispute belongs to the courts of Ontario.
